Tom Hanks Crashes Wedding On California Beach

Wedding crashers are people who show up to weddings without being invited. The term was popularized by the 2005 film of the same name starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson and often has negative connotations of people who attend weddings only for the perks, such as free food and drinks or to revel in a party atmosphere.

But not all wedding crashers have ill intentions nor are they necessarily there to gain free stuff. This was exemplified when one LA couple had their wedding crashed recently as it took place on Santa Monica Beach. Instead of the culprit being a rowdy partygoer, the wedding crasher was actually a very well-known celebrity and his intentions were purely good.

Diciembre and Tashia Farries were celebrating their special day together with their family and friends, as well as their 1-year-old son when out of nowhere, Tom Hanks showed up! Dressed in casual sports clothes as if he had been out for a walk, the star approached the wedding party and told the couple he had been watching and he just wanted to let them know that they were beautiful. Then, the A-lister asked the couple if he could take a photo with them. Imagine celebrating your big day and having an incredibly famous celebrity approach you for a picture!

Fitting in as if he had known them for years, Hanks took photos with the couple and their son and exchanged some friendly words and laughs. There was even a special meaning behind his appearance that meant the world to the celebrating couple. Diciembre's brother wasn't at the wedding as he had recently passed away. But after learning that he and Hanks share the same birthday, the couple saw it as a sign that he was there with them.

Taking place on LA's Santa Monica State Beach last weekend, the wedding was truly picture perfect. With the soft afternoon sun casting a glow over the gorgeous beach location, Diciembre and Tashia Farries' big day looked to be going perfectly. But then it became even more memorable.

Dressed very casually in a hoodie, shorts and sneakers, it's possible that Hanks was out for a stroll on the beach when he saw the nuptials going on. The moment when he crashed their wedding was luckily captured in a video that appears to have been filmed by one of the guests at the wedding. Talking to the group in a polite and friendly manner, the actor had walked up to say hello and tell the group that he'd been watching the wedding and thought they were beautiful.

Then, to the surprise of everyone, he asked if he could take a photo with the bride and groom. That moment was captured on video and the shock of everyone is clear. One person said "Holy moly," while others politely said "please" and "that's amazing." Tashia works as a private celebrity chef and is used to being around stars but this moment undoubtedly took her aback.

Having spotted the bride, Hanks then asked if the groom was around, before being told the person in front of him was the groom. "Get out!" the actor said joyfully as he realized he crashed a same-sex wedding. He then asked if the 1-year-old boy was their son and enjoyed conversation after introducing himself to the married couple. The three adults and the infant then posed for a couple of pictures as the wedding party around them eagerly looked on.

Besides being a completely surreal situation, the moment was special for another reason. After Diciembre's brother passed away, the glowing bride was given a sign from above that her sibling was there on her big day nonetheless. His photo sat on one of the chairs during the ceremony, but it wasn't until the couple learned that Hanks had the same birthday as Diciembre's brother that the meaning of his appearance fell into place. As reported by Fox 11, they said:

"It was like that was a message that he was there!"

That must have surely meant a lot to them. Overjoyed at the impromptu celebrity encounter, Hanks and the couple spoke warmly for a few minutes after they posed for photos. He could be overheard saying "come on by, push your way through," suggesting that perhaps he was telling them to stop by somewhere and say hello to him. It would only be fair considering he crashed their wedding, after all!

He then asked where they were going on their honeymoon and engaged in conversation before eventually announcing his departure with a smile, saying, "I'm going to leave you alone."

The actor then asked if he could kiss the couple and he did so before taking yet another photo with one of the wedding guests. When asked "How was that?" by the person filming, Diciembre could only answer, "wow," before explaining the moment she realized that it was Hollywood icon Hanks approaching them.

Weddings are memorable no matter what, but this was extra special for a number of reasons and surely won't be a moment that Diciembre and Tashia — or Hanks — will forget anytime soon.
