It’s still quite early into the 92nd Annual Academy Awards, and Tom Hanks is pumped for it. Literally! The actor, 63, did a few reps on the red carpet with a military sergeant as a group of soldiers cheered them on. Oh, and he was in a tuxedo!

Of course, Tom is no stranger to military exercises, especially from playing the character Forrest Gump and more famously for his portrayal of a captain in the beloved movie Saving Private Ryan, which won five Academy Awards in 1999. His work in that film had earned him the title of honorary member of the U.S. Army Rangers Hall of Fame.

For tonight’s ceremony, Tom has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Fred Rogers, for which he did not win, aka Mr. Rogers, in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. This film follows an investigative journalist Lloyd Vogel, played by Matthew Rhys who is on an assignment to profile Mr. Rogers. The film was released in November 2019.

As one of the most well-known actors in the world, Tom’s career is truly a marvel. He says that he used to think that his job couldn’t be more fun than it was.

Tom Hanks is an international treasure. What do you think about his Oscar snub this evening?
