Tom Hanks And Rita Wilson's Son Chet Says Parents Aren't Worried Amid Their Coronavirus Diagnosis

It was announced today that both Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have been tested positive for coronavirus while in Australia. Their son Chet Hanks made a public statement on his own social media in response.

The news was announced by Tom Hanks himself on an Instagram post along with a photo of a medical glove in a biohazard trash bin.

"To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive."

He writes that he and Rita came down with fever and chills, and the two went to get tested and are now taking the situation one day at a time. They will be following medial protocol according to professionals.

Hanks was in Australia filming a movie for Baz Luhrmann on the life of Elvis Presley. The Sun reports the director has told everybody on set to go home, and that the film's studio Warner Brothers is working on the ground with Australian authorities to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

The couple are now reportedly being cared for in isolation in a Queensland hospital.

With the news, their son Chet undoubtedly received many messages regarding his parents. He made an Instagram video to share his thoughts and updates saying:

"What's up everyone. Yeah, it's true, my parents got coronavirus, crazy. They're both down in Australia right now because my dad was shooting a movie down there," Chet remarks in the video. "But I just got off the phone with them and they both are fine. They're not even that sick, they're not worried about it, they're not tripping, but they're going through the necessary health precautions, obviously. But I don't think it's anything to be too worried about."

"I appreciate everyone's concern and the well wishes, but I think it's all gonna be alright. I appreciate it and just, everybody, stay safe out there. Much love," he added at the end.

Chet's brother Colin Hanks also made his own statement on Instagram thanking everyone for their support and ensuring the public that his parents are in good spirits:
