Tom Cruise Is Selling His Custom-Built Colorado Ranch For $39.5 Million & It Left Us In Tears

Tom Cruise has worn quite a few hats through his career, and now he’s adding one more to the list. The critically acclaimed actor and producer is selling his home in Telluride, Colorado, for a whopping $39.5 million. Cruise had previously tried to sell the property back in 2014 for an even higher price, but wasn’t completely ready to part ways with it yet.

The home is the perfect location for anyone who wants adventure and privacy. With amenities littered throughout the main house, the guest house and the surrounding property, it’s no wonder the star held onto the home for so long. A lot of care and planning went into the design and overall construction of the cedarwood filled home, making it one of a kind.

Cruise was born in Syracuse, New York, on July 3, 1962. The number three has been a recurring one throughout not only his career, but also his personal life. The actor won three Golden Globes Awards and was also nominated for three Academy Awards.

Cruise’s most notorious role so far has been as Ethan Hunt in all six of the movies in the “Mission Impossible” series. The first of the series was released in 1996 and was instantly a box-office success. It was also Cruise’s first project as a producer, really launching him into the starlight. There is a gated-off mile-long driveway leading up to the actual house surrounded by plenty of aspen trees. The home offers a great view of the nearby mountain range. It helped Cruise escape from his life as a famous actor. 

While it may be secluded, it is anything but small. The trek from one side of the property to the other is pretty lengthy. The 320-acre property is 11,512 square feet, with 10,000 of the square footage belonging to the main home. The detached guest house takes the remaining amount of space. Between the two locations, there are seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms. The home also has a three-car garage.

The property has quite the homey feel despite its incredible size, with the help of some warm furnishing and two fireplaces. Warm wood is the main furnishing. The layout is filled with bleached cedarwood floors, according to Newsy Entertainment. It also includes plenty of luxuries, since it has been lived in by a handful of celebrities. The property also includes its own helipad and library.

According to Newsy Entertainment, Cruise tried selling the house in 2014 because he didn’t use it very much. It ended up being taken off the market before being put back on in 2021. Cruise actually hasn’t lived in the house for a while, which could show that he’s now ready to sell unlike in 2014.

Cruise began designing the home in the 1990s, completing his vision and place to live in 1994. The property has belonged to the actor ever since. According to Sotheby’s International Realty, Cruise’s estate is the perfect location to see natural beauty. It is “enveloped in mountain majesty,” but only minutes away from the fun scene of downtown Telluride. 

Sotheby’s International Realty agent Dan Rockray went into more detail about Cruise’s involvement with the home in recent years. “Everybody knows who owns this property, but you can’t see it from almost anywhere,” Dockray said to the Wall Street Journal. He also explained how while Cruise had tried to sell the home in the past, it seemed like he wasn’t ready then, but is ready to part ways with it now.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the estate is action-packed, which makes sense since it was designed by such an acclaimed action star. The gated-off sanctuary is full of sports amenities, such as a fitness center and plenty of space to enjoy outdoor activities. It is a great location for skiing and golf. The property also has a dirt-bike and snowmobile track, as well as trails and a sports court, according to Architectural Digest.

With plenty of space for children to run and play, a detached guest house for visitors’ privacy and a ton of fun add-ons, Cruise’s ranch has managed to feel like both a great getaway spot and a sweet home to live in. All in all this Colorado property seems like the perfect family home.
