A toddler from McLoud, Okla. is melting hearts all across the Internet with a video from the summer of 2020. The video of 2-year-old Brilee features the youngster repeating words of affirmation to calm herself down after hurting her hand. Once you watch it, you'll understand why this video has spread like wildfire across the web.

The power of positivity is a well-documented phenomenon, but it is often difficult for most people to think positively about themselves, especially when facing difficult situations. There is a saying that when you raise a child in the way he or she should be raised, then they will not stray from their good upbringing when they get older. One of the most difficult parts of being a parent is helping your kids to learn to calm themselves when things do not go right. Last July, McCloud, Okla. resident Shelbee Haderer showed us the brilliant method she uses to soothe her crying toddler.

Little Brilee was in tears after she got her fingers smashed in the door at home in McLoud. Naturally, the little girl went crying to her mama. She is understandably not happy about the painful encounter. Haderer comforted her little girl and wisely told her to take deep breaths, which Brilee does in the most adorable way possible. In tears, Brilee explains to her mom that she hurt her hands accidentally when she smashed them in the door. After she gives her explanation, she goes back to breathing in and out deeply.

Next, Haderer asks her little Brilee again if she’s okay, and then she shows us a wonderful parenting technique. She asks Brilee to repeat after her as she recited positive affirmations. “I am okay. I am strong. I am beautiful. I am loved. I am worthy.” At this point, Brilee’s frown has turned upside down. She is a happy little girl again!

Being so young, Brilee doesn’t enunciate all the big words as an adult would — rather, she adorably says the word "beautiful" like ‘"faithful." But she did an amazing job repeating after her mom! You can just feel her sincerity as she talked. She even kept eye contact with her mom the entire time. At the “I am strong” part, you can also see Brilee bringing her hands to her chest like she really resonates with the words.

The result of this is just wonderful. Brilee has totally calmed down after repeating her mom’s words of self-love and acceptance. But that was not all. The little darling proceeds to thank her mom, caressing her face as she says in the sweetest voice: “Thank you, mom.” If this does not melt your heart, we really don’t know what will.

Luckily Mom Shelbee had her camera ready to record this precious moment that will surely be remembered dearly by family members for a long time. She posted the original video to her TikTok account back in July 2020 so that everyone would be able to enjoy little Brilee’s adorable words of affirmation. And viewers (like us) are grateful. “I keep coming back to this when I am having a bad day,” one TikTok user commented on the video. This is the GREATEST thing on the Internet. Humanity at its best.”

It is always heartwarming to watch parents encouraging their little ones and sharing their wholesome parenting techniques online.

Last August, a toddler from New York City went viral after his mom recorded him reciting a self-affirming mantra all by himself on the way to school. This adorable moment was recorded by Alissa while she was walking her son to school one morning. The loving mom was well aware of how hard it can be to think positively about one's self and the world in general, especially when society often bombards us with reasons to have a negative self-image or a negative worldview.

To counter this, Alissa taught her son a few positive phrases to help bolster his self-confidence. She began teaching her son these short, easy-to-memorize phrases on his second birthday. She hoped these sayings would be a good reminder for her son of how special he is. She also hoped the phrases would be a useful tool as he faced the challenges of daily life as he got older.

Since she began teaching her son these positive life lessons at such a young age, Alissa had no way of knowing if they were really sticking or not. That is until she was walking with her son to school one morning and, out of the blue, heard him beginning to repeat the phrases she had taught him over a year ago.

Alissa quickly pulled out her phone to record the special moment and later posted it on Instagram, saying “out of nowhere he started repeating it, so I pulled out my phone. He ended (with enthusiasm lol) once we made it to our destination.”

The adorable video shows Ayaan walking down the street, all ready for school with his matching outfit, hat, and backpack, happily reciting the morning affirmation he learned from his mom: “I am smart. I am blessed. I can do anything!”

Alissa was excited to see the lessons she had been teaching her son were sticking with him and helping him face the challenges of growing up. She remarked that she was “so proud of the little boy he is growing into.”

Clearly, the boy's self-confidence and affirmations are not just adorable to listen to but are also encouraging for others who could use a little more confidence in their lives. It's uplifting to see a mom who is willing to teach her son positive personal habits from a young age. Hopefully, he will grow up knowing how special and loved he is and will be better equipped to deal with the challenges of life that we all face as we age.

Benefits Of Repeating Positive Affirmations

According to positivemindopenheart.com.au, using affirmations can boost your child’s self-esteem, confidence, and strengthen their emotional well-being. When your child has healthy levels of self-esteem, “It helps build their resilience to bullying and other negative life situations and events.”

Do you use mantras to help bolster your self-confidence in tough situations? Should all parents be trying to teach their kids affirming phrases from a young age? Let us know in the comments, and be sure to pass this adorable video along to someone who could use an extra reason to smile!
