Countries across the world have unique ways through which their citizens show pride and unity. For the United States, the Pledge of Allegiance is synonymous with loyalty to the country and the flag. Unsurprisingly, when Lacey Nicole Holmes posted a video of her son reciting the pledge, it went viral in just a short time. Many people who have watched the video in which the boy was reciting the pledge agreed that it was among the most heartwarming thing they had watched in a while.

In the video, the toddler is shown proudly reciting the pledge with his hands on his heart as a sign of loyalty and patriotism. Although he seemed to master all the words in the pledge, he seemed to have problems reciting a few words.

The little stutter, however, could not discourage the young patriot from his goal. What stands out throughout the poem is the toddler's determination to recite it all while displaying a pride only true patriots will understand.

Not many toddlers across the country can recite the pledge as well as Lacey Nicole Holmes' son. As you would expect, Lacey was beaming with pride as she captured the moment on camera. The mother then proudly uploaded her toddler's video on her Facebook page, from where it instantly went viral.

The footage recorded over 2.5 million views. It was also reposted 121,000 times and received more than 31,000 reactions, including 3,800 comments. Many people spoke warmly about the toddler's actions with many of them taking the time to write encouraging messages on his mother's timeline.

Although younger Americans might not be aware of the origin of the pledge of allegiance, older citizens understand it. They know that it is a bit different from the one used in the yesteryears. Some changes to the Pledge of Allegiance were made in 1954 by the then American president Dwight D. Eisenhower.

The president convinced Congress to include the words 'Under God' that were previously not in it. History reveals, however, that this was not the first change made to the Pledge of Allegiance. In fact, the pioneer Pledge of Allegiance was not made for Americans alone. It was intended for citizens of different countries. The pioneering piece stated like this:

I pledge allegiance to my flag and the republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty, and justice for all.

The pledge was widely accepted across the United States and was customized for use in the country. Other countries, however, did not adopt it. Many reasons can explain why other countries did not take up the pledge, although the standard one is that they never felt it was of much relevance like their flags.

There are a few countries that hold their flags in the same regard as America, and one of them is Denmark. TIME reported that the Danes regard the Danish flag as 'a sacred and beloved object, a banner of joy, and tolerance, solidarity, and community.'

Different people from different countries have different opinions about America's Pledge of Allegiance. Some feel that Americans' show of love to the Pledge of Allegiance is a typical show of love and patriotism. Others do not know why citizens are asked to pledge their allegiance to the flag.

From the video, it is certain that even toddlers who are proud of being American choose to express their pride through the Pledge of Allegiance.
