A missing child is every parent's nightmare. But this story has a happy ending thanks to the dog who saved this toddler's life. Max is a senior dog who is partially blind and fully deaf. He's certainly not the youngest dog around, but his loyalty and instincts have led to him being labeled a hero.

Aurora is a 3-year-old girl who was reported missing at about 3 PM on the rural property of her family. On a wet afternoon, the child had wandered off alone into the hilly and wooded terrain.

Emergency professionals and her family were unable to find any sign of the girl on Friday night. Over 100 emergency service volunteers, members of the public, and police officers crowded onto the property to search for the child.

Among the searchers was Aurora's grandmother. She heard Aurora's voice from a mountain that was located on the family's property, a distance of about 1.2 miles from home. That was when Max appeared.

The child's grandmother stated that she was calling Aurora's name, and that she heard Aurora call back. As soon as she reached the top of the mountain, Max led her right to the child.

The reunion was nothing short of emotional. Crying family members hugged Aurora tight and explained that their tears were of joy, not sadness.

The girl traveled a long way in inhospitable terrain. The area surrounding the house is very mountainous and difficult to walk in. She'd wandered a far distance with her loyal dog.

Max saved the child's life. He walked with her the whole time and used his body heat to protect her in the cold night. He also tried to bring the child toward the searchlights before he laid down with her.

Max has been named an honorary police dog. Aurora was in good health and uninjured. What do you think of this brave senior dog? Show this touching video to your friends and family and let us know your thoughts!
