For parents, having to go to work and leave their little one in another person's care is a difficult experience. Whether you leave your child in daycare, with a babysitter, or drop them off with a family member, it's almost impossible to know what happens when you're not there.

One mother found out the shocking details of what was going on at her child's daycare.

This incident took place in April after a mother picked her son up from a local daycare center. Concerned by her son's alarming behavior, the mom rushed to the hospital to see if her child was okay.

It was clear to the mother that her son's condition was brought on by the time he spent in daycare, but what could possibly make him act this way?

Her son was limp, pale, and had reportedly fallen when he was eating while at the daycare. After the daycare owner had trouble waking the boy up, she alerted the mother who rushed him over to the local hospital.

The hospital staff couldn't believe what they discovered. At Frederick Memorial Hospital, the doctors immediately identified the issue after smelling the child's breath.

While he was in daycare, the boy became intoxicated! With a blood alcohol level of .203, the child was well over the legal limit for adults.

Doctors even believe that this level was much higher earlier in the day.

Following this revelation, the mother recalled that she had smelled alcohol on her son earlier in the week. However, she had attributed this smell to baby wipes or hand sanitizer, as she had no reason to imagine her son would have come into contact with alcohol.

As the authorities went on to investigate the situation, they turned to the daycare owner for answers. Though it was obvious the child had clearly become intoxicated while under her care, the owner refused to explain how the toddler came by the alcohol.

The owner's license was suspended and officially revoked later in the year. She was arrested on charges of neglect but was released after promising to appear in court. Mrs. Ott, the daycare owner, had been operating in the Walkersville area for almost 20 years from her very own home.

While the parents in this story kept their names out of the media, the charging documents assure that their son is now fully recovered.
