Toddler Accidentally Finds Missing Elderly Woman With Alzheimer’s While Playing Near Woods

It’s not unusual for a person to find another missing person. We often hear stories about people who got lost and found by a stranger. But what are the chances of a toddler bumping into a missing person? We’ll never know for sure. If there’s one thing we’re sure of, though, it’s that people cross paths for a reason – and this story is no exception.

In August 2022, an 18-month-old named Ethan Moore played bubbles with his mom Brittany in the backyard of their home in Senoia, Georgia. But as the bubbles drifted away, Ethan and his dogs tried to chase the bubbles floating toward the fence line.

Much to Brittany’s surprise, Ethan saw somebody standing in the woods. Brittany then asked Ethan to tell her what he was seeing at that point.

“I went over there and was like, ‘What do you see buddy?’ and he pointed and said, ‘Feet,’” Brittany told Atlanta News First in an interview. “‘OK, buddy can you say that again. What did you say?’ And he said, ‘Feet,’” Brittany said.

While Ethan tried as much as he could to point out to his mom what he was seeing, Brittany said she couldn’t see anything aside from trees. So, she tried to get down to her son’s level and set her eyes on where her son was pointing – until she finally saw feet.

“If you get on his level and look through, you can see some of the broken sticks and that’s where she was laying,” she remarked. “I didn’t know if I needed to go into fight or flight because I had my little boy out here and the other inside.”

Naturally, Brittany got frightened and admitted that she panicked before she tried to call for help.

When authorities arrived, they recognized the woman as 82-year-old Nina Lipscomb. People had been looking for her for four days when she was found in the woods. Helicopters with thermal cameras and volunteers were deployed to help search for Nina.

Nina has Alzheimer’s and is currently experiencing the early stages of the disease.

Karen told Atlanta News First that her mom asked told her she would go look for her sister, who passed away in March.

“Her sister lived here in this house, but she passed away in March but growing up they lived on Glacier Road which is just around the corner,” she said.

As soon as Nina went missing, her son Thomas drove from Chesapeake in Virginia to Senoia.

"I think that someone picked her up and probably gave her a ride … That's why we're unable to see anything that reveals the path she took," Thomas told Fox 5 Atlanta.

Her daughter Karen Lipscomb, in the same interview, said her mom could still recognize her name and birthday if she’s asked about it even though she has been diagnosed with dementia.

Karen said it couldn’t be more fitting that it was Ethan who found her mom since she loved kids.

“We pulled out every resource we thought we needed but it was a little boy and she’s very fond of children,” Karen told Atlanta News First.

For Brittany, she believed what her son did was beyond what any person could do – and she promised to always remind her son about what he did.

“I truly think this was something outside of what any human could do,” Brittany Moore said. “It took a child who was being worked by God. We will always teach him what he did, how he played an impact in it.”
