Allow me to assure you that being a little bit broken does not prevent me from entirely loving you.

Repairing the chinks in my armor has proven to be a daunting process. Though it has not been an impossible undertaking. I have become an expert at restoring myself to working order after being so incredibly broken at one time. I have been very down, and I often struggle with the formidable waves of unfavorable memories that flood my thoughts. However, the ability to cope has not been lost on me.

Gripping tidal waves of emotion were once more frequent, but I have successfully reduced them to the best of my ability. I am no longer fully broken. I am just moderately broken now. I make no apologies for the woman I have become, so please do not try to fix me or erase my past. Emotional repair is an in-house project, and the fact remains that I will always be a little bit broken.

I have excised as much pain and sadness as possible. I have significantly lessened my penchant for projecting my insecurities on those around me. But I will forever be a little bit broken.

I reflect on my once-brave self and how I approached life with a fearless spirit. I loved to the tips of my fingers and routinely gave all of myself and the best of myself. Being loved by me used to mean that I was all in and took high-risk gambles with my heart. Gambling big can result in losing big, and this is how my unafraid heart was broken.

Giving my heart in full to another resulted in it being broken. But I will be fine. It is not the end of the world. The cool thing is that I am choosing bravery once again and choosing to love you too. When old wounds resurface and stand between us, I will fight long and hard and ask you for patience when I am wrestling old heartache’s repercussions.

I had begged to be a different person when I was broken. I let the pain win as I cried rivers of tears and hopelessly wanted to be someone else to make the aching stop. Ultimately, my brokenness influenced me to be the person I am present. Being broken and learning what I am made of taught me volumes about myself.

Without question, the most magnificent thing I have discovered after I was damaged is that even broken people can love again. In truth, those who have been broken have the capacity to love more intensely and purely than those who have never been crushed. Thrill and enjoyment impact me exponentially now, and I clench love while loving with my whole heart. There was beauty in my breakdown, and I have finally unearthed it.

What began with me not knowing if I could mend my heart and love again has ended with me embracing the fact that I have power over my future, despite not having all of the power in the past. Sage advice from a confidant reminded me that I cannot allow negative events to define me. I wrote the manual on how to repair myself, and although cracks remain, I am eager for what comes next.

Loving me will never be an effortless endeavor because I am still a bit broken. You will face challenges and highs and lows while we navigate our love story. You will find this to be an awe-inspiring journey if you stick it out and embrace my imperfections while forgiving me for being broken. What I bring to the table is the promise that I will never willfully do anything to break you. I have lived through the worst kind of hurt, and I refuse to inflict such agony on another person.

Should you elect to love the broken me, I pledge to return that love without reservation. This fractured heart of mine is no longer out of commission. In fact, the modifications have made it rather tenacious. Those who have loved and been shattered must hold onto hope and see the splendor in redemption. This message is universal and will be a guiding light for readers seeking a path to healing.
