She’s been there through thick and thin. She’s actually your better half. She’s withstood not only the test of time but the test of life challenges. This girl was your backbone when you couldn’t stand up for yourself and was the voice for you when you couldn’t talk. Her empathy allowed her to cry for you when you were going through something terrible. And throughout it all, she stayed your friend.

When you go through tough challenges such as an abusive or toxic relationship, you often alienate yourself from others around you in order to protect yourself and your relationship from criticism. Friends will come and go, but this one stayed. She knew what you were going through and always tried to help you through the situation with grace and eloquence. She was there to pick you up every time you fell, and she put you back together with your broken pieces.

It’s amazing how true friendship can withstand anything. Even when you’re low on self-worth or confidence, your friend is there to pick you up. They’re there to answer your calls at 3 in the morning, they’re there to bail you out of jail if you need it, and they have your back through any bad situation you may find yourself in. But they aren’t only there for the bad. There’s plenty of good as well. They laugh with you, cry with you, and have adventures with you. That’s what friendship is all about.

It’s hard when you have a friend that is so amazing that you feel like you owe them your life. How can you ever possibly repay someone who has helped you through more situations than you can count? You might even feel like you’re a burden on your friend when you need to rely on them so much, but they’ll never make you feel that way. They’ll sit through everything that life has to throw at you and never complain about it once.

But what happens when the struggles are over? They’ll still be there. They’ll laugh with you about all that you’ve been through and remind you that you’ve come through it all a stronger and better person. Each and every mistake, fault, and problem that you’ve been through will become something that strengthens the bond so much that it can never be broken. They’ll be there when you don’t know how to love yourself, but they’ll also be there when you’re put back together again.
