Attention: cuteness overload incoming! In a particularly cute and sweet video from 2012, Callie, a 3-month-old pit bull and Catahoula mix can be seen trying to protect the newest addition to its family. The problem is that apparently the pup would much rather join its human sibling in sleep than stand watch.

The video shows a baby sleeping peacefully on a blue blanket lying on the floor. As can be heard from the background conversations, a female puppy is sitting at the head of the little one.

Apparently the little puppy wants to guard the baby but is actually far too tired to do so. Again and again, the young animal's eyes fall closed exhaustedly, it even staggers while sitting and almost tips over from tiredness. When she moves and can't even lift her legs properly anymore, someone in the background asks if the little female puppy is all right.

Over the course of the video, the young pup calmly searches for a position that is comfortable. In the end, she settles very close to the little body of the baby. Of course not without making sure she can stay guarding the newborn! The little pup lays her head anxiously on her little charge, to have everything in view even while she is resting.

She watches her master attentively and observes whether there is any danger in the surrounding area. Tired, her eyes are still closing again and again, but she is visibly more at ease with her new place. It's heart-rending how this young lady sacrifices her own rest just to offer her new best friend all the protection she can give.

But the puppy's behavior is not so unusual and only once more shows us how close animals and human can sometimes be to each other. Particularly young animals bond easily with children. They can easily understand who is an adult and who is not. This little puppy has found a friend and companion in the baby.

The people around her belong to the same pack as her own. The baby belongs to her pack leader and therefore needs very special protection.

In nature, young animals not only play with each other but also prepare each other for the dangers of nature and adult life. Social behavior and physical strength are mutually taught and trained. The group is also getting stronger as a whole when more members are added. This makes natural enemies a smaller threat and the pack supports itself.

If you also think the puppy is super cute, show the video to your friends so they can see how wonderful this little dog can be! And let us know: have you ever seen a puppy make friends with a baby?
