The Olympia-class liner pays tribute to the original Titanic by trying to preserve as much as the external and internal aesthetics as possible.

The primary difference between the two ships is that the new Titanic II will be outfitted with the latest in safety and health regulations, all designed to ensure smooth sailing from start to finish. For example, there will be a large number of lifeboats, up-to-date radar and navigation technology, and CNN also reports there will be a welded not riveted hull.

The new Titanic will carry up to 2,435 passengers in 835 cabins. The project was first announced in 2013. Despite criticism from some people, such as this Irish Examiner op-ed, that the reincarnation was insensitive, the company continued to proceed with its plans.

The original Titanic hit an iceberg and sunk in the Atlantic Ocean on April 15, 1912, killing over 1,500 people. The ship and its lore have lived on in the memories of many for over a century.
