Tiny 'Werewolf' Found In Apartment Complex Just Wanted To Be Cuddled

Mar 01, 2019 by apost team

The mythical werewolf has been part of European and American culture for hundreds of years. Most people do not expect to see the creatures outside of a film, TV show or costume party. So.

Imagine the surprise that one individual experienced when coming face-to-face with what appeared to be a real werewolf in search of food outside a Florida apartment complex. Upon closer inspection, the unusual-looking animal was actually a cat.

The little emaciated creature had matted and a rough grayish-brown sparse fur. However, around his eyes and the top of his nose and muzzle, dark brown, hairless, leathery skin. The cat looked very much like a little werewolf due to its unique physical characteristics. The stray belonged to a breed known as Lykoi.

Due to the cat's obviously poor health condition, he was rescued by staff members from the St. Francis Society Animal Rescue Association. Upon examination, the team learned that the feline was approximately eight-years-old, and he was aptly Logan.

The poor little animal was starved and had infections in his eyes, ears and feet. He was missing most of his teeth and also plagued with fleas. Thankfully, despite his poor state of health, Logan did not suffer from any life-threatening feline diseases.

Logan was also not neutered, which led the team to believe that he might have once been used for breeding purposes and then discarded. A veterinarian treated Logan's infections, trimmed his claws and a diet recommended.

Initially, Logan was understandably timid around people. But, following the tender, loving care he received, the feline soon responded with affection.

He thoroughly enjoyed being snuggled by his caregivers. Once treated, the cat's care then became the responsibility of a foster mom. When emotionally and physically healthy, Logan would receive a forever home.

Lykoi is a Greek word that means “wolf cat.” The characteristics of the cats were initially noted in feral animals. Their unusual appearance is harmless and due to a genetic mutation.

In 2010, the unique appearance of certain felines drew the attention of breeders who used the strays for breeding to recreate the desired look in domesticated litters. The Lykoi cat breed was soon a reality.

Although some might consider the cats to have a frightful appearance, the little felines are actually affectionate and playful. They make ideal pets for children or first-time cat owners. However, these cats do undergo a molting process that requires regular weekly or monthly bathing.
