Tiny Pomeranian Puppy Howls Along With Wolves

Ellie, the Pomeranian puppy channels her inner wolf in an adorable video posted in 2016.  While she initially tried to hide from the howling, she soon realized that she, too, could be a part of their pack. And we definitely think that Ellie proved she could fit right in.

Small dogs take any chance they're given to prove that though they're small, they're as mighty as even the largest of wolves. When her owner was watching a movie, this Pomeranian puppy, Ellie, did her best to prove that she, too, could howl with the best of them. Her owner caught her adorable attempts on video.

You may have noticed that when your dog hears another dog barking, they feel the need to bark as well. This reaction is similar to when one wolf begins howling, and the others join in. It's a natural reaction that dogs have, and they do it for a variety of reasons. Most commonly, we think, it's to help locate other wolves, signal the pack, or even to warn other wolves to stay away, according to National Geographic. It's a long-standing instinct that dogs have carried with them to this day.

When Ellie's owner decided to watch a video of wolves howling, she prepared by filming the Pomeranian's reaction. When it first started, Ellie did the oh-so-adorable and classic head tilt. However, the small dog was a bit startled by the sound of the wolves and, after a few curious glances, decided it was best to go back to her bed. Sometimes, dogs get concerned when they can't identify the exact source of the noise. Technology can confuse dogs that way.

Once in her bed, Ellie tried to hide, ducking her head below the side of her bed for protection. She only stayed like this a moment or so, though. It seemed that Ellie realized this was her chance to prove that she, too, was as fierce as a pack of wolves. You can see Ellie tilt her head as far back as it would go, take a deep breath, and let out a long howl.

She then glances at her owner, almost for reassurance that she did a good job, and tries it again. Once she stops, she tilts her head to the side once more, looking at her owner's computer screen. It seems she has figured out where the sound came from, finally. Ellie proved herself to be just as mighty as the wolves in the video, and she's no longer afraid of them.

Ellie may be small but we doubt she'd let us call her out on being afraid. She faced her fears and joined the wolves. She may not have known where the sound was coming from, but she joined in, looking much like one of the mighty wolves herself.

While it's difficult to tell if her owner was watching this movie clip simply to see how Ellie would react, we are glad her owner caught her hilarious and adorable reaction on film. At the end of the day, we would trust Ellie to protect us from any major threats. She was afraid of the sound of the wolves at first.

Yet, she overcame that to howl with them, allowing herself to become part of the pack. If that isn't bravery at its finest, then we definitely don't know what is. Hopefully, Ellie's mom gave her a treat for her awesome reaction.
