For many locals and tourists, Summer Nights offer a unique opportunity to gather with the community and have fun together.

One viral video comes from one of these celebrations.

In the video, the bagpipe players begin their performance and a pair of adorable girls are walked out to the middle of the street to start a routine of their own. Clad in argyle socks, plaid skirts, puffy blouses, and velvet vests, the girls are ready for a real night of Highland dancing!

The bagpipes begin to play and the tiny performers take their places. They start to bow, ready to begin their routine. The dance begins with the girls hopping forward, then back, keeping their hands raised high above their heads.

Highly focused and working to stay in coordination, the girls keep time with the bagpipes as they continue to jump and dance for their audience.

Getting to perform for such a large crowd at their young age certainly must have made them nervous! What a pair of fearless dancers. Though they are just beginning a life of dancing, they have generations of traditional Highland styles to learn from.

This particular type of dance is part of the Highland tradition and is generally performed to the music of the Highland bagpipe. Just like these little girls, Highland dancers must wear special ghillies or shoes that help the dancers balance.

Technically, this form of dancing is considered to be step dancing, though it incorporates the rest of the upper body. Highland dancers must perform by making hand and arm movements, as you can see with the little girls' dance.

As the dancers must use the balls of each foot as they dance, being able to focus on the right hand movements and footwork takes a lot of practice. These adorable girls are certainly well on their way to becoming true Highland dancers. They have the outfits, the moves, and are already off to a fabulous start.
