Older siblings do not always happily welcome their new baby brothers or sisters into the world. The first sight of a newborn always elicits some interesting reaction from children. The anticipation of this reaction was what led one mom to record her daughter on her first visit to the hospital to see mom and baby brother.

Any worry about the response ended quickly as the adorable little girl enters. A hospital worker leaving the room announces the arrival of “some special visitors”. The daughter, a tiny doll of a child with tousled blonde hair, seems confused. The sweetie walks in with a look of worry and hesitation on her face. She clutches and twists a purple stuffed monkey nervously in her hands as she edges into the room.

The child sees her mom reclining in a hospital bed and her hesitation shifts to worry as she loudly asks what happened. Laughter is heard on the video as the adults anticipate the reaction the youngster will have when she discovers the answer to her question.

Suddenly, as the girl walks closer to the hospital bed, the look of concern changes to one of excitement. She now sees what her mother has tucked in her arms. The squeals of delight echo through the room as she shouts out her discovery.

“My baby brother!”

Big sister reaches excitedly towards the bed as the adults remind her to wash her hands first. The quiet conversation suggests this discussion was had prior to this day. The little one seems to relent but is too distracted to stray from mom’s bed for long.

The video ends as an adult helps her to remove the backpack she is carrying, and she is carried over to the sink to scrub her hands. No one could blame the girl for her impatience. It is obvious she has been anxiously waiting to meet her new baby brother.
