Tina Turner spoke to the Mirror today about how she feels at 80, saying it’s like “having a second chance at life.”

The 80-year-old bombshell, who has an impressive 60-year career under her belt with over 200 million records sold worldwide, is now recovering after a brief battle with cancer and a kidney transplant.

“I’m 80,” Turner is heard saying in the video. “What do I think? How did I think I would be at 80? Not like this.”

“I look great. I feel good. I have gone through some very serious sicknesses that I am overcoming. It’s like having a second chance at life.”

In 2013, just three weeks after marrying her current husband Erwin Bach, Turner had a stroke that saw her have to learn how to walk again. Three years later, the Queen of Rock & Roll was diagnosed with intestinal cancer and Kidney failure in 2017, after using homeopathic treatments for high blood pressure.

“The consequences of my ignorance ended up being a matter of life or death,” she wrote in her 2018 memoir, according to Kidney Research UK. “If I hadn’t discontinued the medication, if, if, if. A small decision but one that would continue to haunt me.”

As her health took a turn for the worst, Turner considered assisted suicide to end her pain before her husband offered her a kidney. The couple now shares a residence together in Zürich, Switzerland.

“I know that my medical adventure is far from over. There’s always another test, another doctor’s appointment or biopsy to get through,” the singer tells the Mirror. "We’re both still here closer than we ever imagined and that’s cause for celebration.”
