Late superstar singer Tina Turner disclosed in her biography that her husband saved her life. She was near death because her kidneys were failing. That was when he stepped up and volunteered to donate one of his own kidneys in order to allow her life to continue in a strong and lively fashion. She later passed on May 24, 2023.

Ms. Turner had just triumphantly overcome intestinal cancer. She had also survived a stroke. Then her body was soon hit with yet another life-threatening medical crisis. Her kidneys began to shut down.

She felt very anxious. She felt that she was in a hopeless situation. At that point, she even began to look into medically assisted suicide.

Tina's kidney functions were crashing at an alarming rate. In December of 2016, she knew that she only had two options if she was going to stay alive.

The best choice was to have a kidney transplant. The second choice was to settle for having dialysis on a regular basis.

Now here is where Erwin Bach, Tina's husband, became involved. He understood that it would take a long time before her name made it to the top of the transplant list.

Until then and until a donor was found, she would have to be connected to a machine. That was not how she wanted to live.

Erwin could not just stand by and watch his beloved Tina suffer. He stunned his wife when he told her that he wanted to offer her one of his own kidneys. The tests were done and the results came back positive. He was a match.

So in April 2017, they both underwent the surgery that would place one of Erwin's kidneys into Tina's body. The transplant surgery was a success. Ms. Turner made a full recovery.

She acknowledged that she was overcome with emotion when they were able to see each other again after the surgery. The singer was very grateful that both of them had lived through their operations.

Dating for over 20 years, Turner and Bach finally decided to marry in 2013. The couple chose to have a quiet wedding at Lake Zurich in Küsnacht, Switzerland. The ceremony was conducted by Hannes Friess, the local municipal official.

This is possibly one of the most romantic things one spouse could do for another. Bach literally gave a piece of himself to save his wife. His kind and generous gift is the undeniable proof of the depth of his love for his wife. He loved her up until her passing on May 24, 2023.
