Haddish has been married once before in the past. She and William Stewart, a professional in a movie production company, were married from 2008 until 2013. Since their split, Haddish has made parts of their relationship public, especially in her memoir “The Last Black Unicorn.”

Haddish is now dating rapper Common, but the two have no interest in having their own children together at the moment. In fact, the actress has said that she is “not going to be the baby mama,” according to E! News’ Daily Pop. Instead, Haddish hopes to become his wife and wants to move forward with adopting a child.

According to Billboard, the couple met when they were cast as love interests in the 2019 film “The Kitchen.” Their on-screen romance quickly heated up and moved to become a real off-screen relationship. During May 2019, Haddish was actually on a popular dating app, Bumble, and recruited Common to help her with a charitable project through the app. Almost one full year later in April 2020, the pair finally went on a virtual date. Haddish and Common announced they were officially together in July 2020, according to Billboard.

During an interview with Daily Pop on May 3, 2021, Haddish talked about what the adoption process has been like so far. “I’m taking parenting classes now to adopt,” she said. Haddish also talked more about what age range she was looking at. “I’m looking at five and up, really like seven,” she explained. “I want them to be able to know how to use the restroom on their own and talk.”

Why Haddish Wants To Adopt

While there is a small convenience with adopting older children who already know how to somewhat care for themselves, that wasn’t the only motivation behind Haddish’s choice in narrowing down the age range. “I want them to know that I put in the work and I wanted them,” she revealed.

The reason why Haddish has planned to adopt is because she doesn’t know if she can have children of her own. “Here’s something everybody don’t know, I’m going to tell you,” she started. The comedian then revealed exactly why she has come to this point in her life by opting for a less traditional approach to motherhood. “When I was 21, I was really hard up with money and gave up a bunch of eggs,” she said. “So who knows? I might got some kids out in these streets. I doubt it though because I never got the bonus.”

Why adoption? For Haddish, the natural way of getting pregnant was seemingly ruled out, and the star has also revealed that she would most likely not go through with a surrogacy. “I don’t want to pay nobody to carry my baby neither, because then I have to go through a process of giving myself injections and all that stuff,” she admitted.

Haddish has found great success over her long career, and is now ready to take the next step in her personal life and become a mother. While the actress has ruled out a few methods, she has made great strides in pursuing adoption. By participating in parenting classes and actively working on educating herself more,, Haddish has already made great progress in her journey to motherhood.
