Carrie Underwood is among the top stars in modern country music. However, not so long ago, she was just a young singer searching for a break. Carrie was only 21 years old, and she came from a small city with a dream. She jumped into "American Idol," the competition she finally won — and looking back at her first audition, it was clear from the beginning that she would one day become a superstar.

During the 2004 summer, Carrie had traveled with her mother from her hometown of Checotah, Oklahoma, to St. Louis, Missouri, in the hope of being selected for the fourth season of the "American Idol" reality show.

Carrie was almost completely unknown when she contended for "American Idol" in 2004. The video shows that outside the audition room, the young singer was nervously walking and wringing her hands, while her mother, Carole, was fondly speaking to the cameraman. She said that she thinks that her daughter is beautiful and has the voice so she has great faith in her.

The young aspiring star confessed to judge Randy Jackson that she felt a little nervous because judge Simon Cowell seemed scary. Simon responded with a big smile claiming that he is not frightening. She then completely captivated the judges before even singing a note, speaking about the football team captain and quarterback, and even, understandably, in the air, revealing the detail that she had three nipples and had one removed.

Underwood auditioned through singing the classic song "I Can’t Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Raitt. It was clear from the opening note that Carrie would be on the reality show, with Jackson and Cowell congratulating her on the excellent performance. But Carrie wasn’t over yet—she also exhibited an eerie screech so intense that Cowell, who is ordinarily calm, said, "God, that was good."

Not only did she make it onto the reality show, but Underwood was the front-runner on the fourth season of "American Idol" and was finally crowned the winner on 25th May 2005. Her 2005 first album titled "Some Hearts" was a huge success, and still continues to be, reports AceShowbiz.

According to her website, she has won seven Grammy Awards, 11 Academy of Country Music Awards, 16 Billboard Music Awards, and eight American Music Awards, together with a Golden Globe selection for Best Original Song. Carrie is the best-selling "American Idol" by sales in the United States and has achieved over a dozen No.1 hits.

Carrie is still one of the reigning sovereigns of country music. For the final of "American Idol," the now-star sang "Bless the Broken Road," a tune by Rascal Flatts, and stole everybody’s heart. The 37-year-old star married Mike Fisher and became a mother in 2015. However, she continues to succeed with dominant country singles and released an album titled "Cry Pretty" in late 2018.

To sum it up, Carrie is an ambitious woman whose journey began in 2004. At this time, she was unknown, but after winning "American Idol," she has become a superstar. It is essential to never give up on your dreams. What do you think of Carrie’s first audition? Let us know in the comments!
