Jessica is a DIY Instagrammer. You can find her at @cottagefarmhouse on Instagram. She posted recently about how her brother Jeremy had put together a very frugal wedding, as he and his new wife Gosia were looking to save as much as they possibly could for the Honeymoon. Jessica shared the full story on her Instagram

"And the cake...I was able to talk my brother into just “getting Costco cakes and throw some real flowers on it”. They ordered two of the $18.99 sheet cakes with cream cheese filling and picked up on the way to the venue before the rehearsal dinner. With the help of Gosia’s brother-in-law, @chefjwarley (who happens to be a chef in England), the cakes were cut into tiered squares, stacked, re-iced, and arranged a few of the real flowers from the piles of flowers used for decorating (About $10 worth). " She wrote.

The result? A stunning masterpiece that looked like it cost much more than $50! Sure, everyone can’t wait to see the bride wearing her wedding dress at any wedding. But after that, everyone heads to the cake table to see what the bride and groom decided on.

Everyone looks forward to getting their own slice of wedding cake, and you hope that it tastes as good as it looks. Because wedding cakes are still an important part of the reception, they can be extremely expensive. You can easily pay thousands of dollars for a professional cake. That is why do-it-yourself skills can be useful.

Jessica posted the finished cake on her Instagram page. She remarked that while many people know her brother is frugal, this wedding cake took that to a whole new level. With the help of three local stores, a relative who is a pastry chef, and a lot of imagination, a classy-looking cake was born! Jessica built the cake stand from materials bought at Hobby Lobby. Again, beauty on a budget.

This is the final result: This is a really gorgeous wedding cake, isn’t it? Especially since it was basically “thrown together” right before the wedding. Jessica wrote that the whole process only took a couple of hours to do.

"Oh and should I mention they did not hire a DJ and used Spotify on an IPad for the music for dancing? It really was a beautiful reception on a budget!"
