This Woman Tried To Ignore A Homeless Man, Until She Read These 5 Simple Yet Haunting Words On His Cardboard Sign

Patrick did not have a home or even daily food, but he did have a loving dog named Franklin. Franklin was his truest companion, and even on days Patrick didn't eat, he made sure he always got food for his beloved dog.

Unfortunately, Patrick and Franklin found that circumstances unexpectedly tore them apart. However, Patrick would soon find a heaven-send in Wilma, a woman whose kindness would change both his and Franklin's lives forever.

Wilma, indeed, had seen her share of what people called panhandlers. She had seen signs asking for food or shelter or help getting from one point to another. What she had not seen was what Patrick was pleading for, what he had written on his cardboard sign.

Leaving a Walmart in Hunstville, Texas, Wilma definitely was stopped in her tracks when she read what Patrick was so desperate for: "Dog in pound. Need help."

A dog lover herself, Wilma immediately related to Patrick's desire to get his dog back. He was begging for people's charity not for himself but for his dog. He only longed to be united with companion. His words haunted her.

But how could Wilma help him? She only had eight dollars in available funds. Eight dollars certainly wouldn't get Patrick's dog back! Regretting that she could not help him, she walked back to her car, only to turn right back around and head back to Patrick.

Wilma said she could not simply leave him there, desperate for his dog. She said, "He looked like a little boy standing there lost."

When Wilma finally approached Patrick, he told her of how he had lost Franklin. He had been forced to serve two days in jail for trespassing, so Franklin had been taken to a shelter and deemed a stray. And now that he had been released, the shelter would not give Franklin back to Patrick until he paid $120.

Patrick vowed to Wilma that he would not abandon Franklin, that he would not give up until he somehow got that money for his dog. He prayed that he would get the money soon, though, before Franklin got adopted by someone else or before the shelter decided to euthanize him.

Wilma knew then that she was supposed to help him, so she got a friend of hers involved to help financially. And together the three of them went first to get a water bowl, some toys, and food for Franklin. Then they headed to the shelter to find the loving pup.

Franklin and Patrick were beyond overjoyed to see each other, and Franklin used all those doggy kisses to tell Patrick just how much he'd been missed.

Franklin, overcome with emotion at the day's unfolding, told Wilma, "You did more for me than most people have done in my life. You don't know how much I thank you."

In two hours, she had changed directions for him and Franklin. But Wilma couldn't stop there. She decided to set up a GoFundMe page for the two, to help them make sure they could always be together.

As Wilma says, you never know who you might be able to help or who might be able to help you. She advises us to judge less, help more, and make the world a better place one action at a time.

What do you think of Wilma's act of kindness? Would you have done the same? Show this to a friend who loves a happy ending!
