A cameraman with The Weather Channel may be looking for a new job soon after capturing dramatic footage of the wrong kind during Hurricane Florence. As The Weather Channel's Mike Seidel commented that he was having trouble standing up in what appears to be powerful winds, viewers watching the action unfold saw two young men walking by nonchalantly in the background.

Officials with The Weather Channel say that their reporter's coverage is factual despite what appears to be fake reporting on the air. They say that the men strolling by are walking on concrete while their reporter is trying to stand in the grass. They also point out that Mike had reported until 1 AM before getting a few hours sleep and going back on the air.

Others are showing photos of CNN's Cooper Anderson appearing to be standing in waist-deep water while reporting on the storm. This footage is actually from 10-years-ago when Cooper reported on Hurricane Ike. During footage shot at that time, Cooper walked around to show how the water level changed drastically depending on where one was standing.

Numerous members of the public have started creating their own hurricane videos and posting them online. One man is seen supposedly reporting from the scene of the hurricane with a powerful water sprinkler providing the water action and a shopping cart filled with a black trash bag flying through the foreground of the scene. Others have made videos with office chairs seeming to fly through the background.

Hurricane Florence's Devastation

The storm has not been funny for many. As of 10 PM EST, it had cost 17 people their lives. Eleven of those deaths are in North Carolina including a baby who was killed when a tree fell on their mobile home. The six other deaths occurred in South Carolina including a woman who was trying to escape from her home when she lost control of her vehicle and it struck a tree. The storm that has already dumped more than 36 inches of rain in some areas is expected to continue dumping more rain across the area over the next couple of days.
