This Soulful BFF Group Perform Original Song And Have Simon Dancing In His Seat Within The First Seconds

Every once in a blue moon, the viewers of America's Got Talent get treated with something totally unexpected. No one could have guessed what was about to happen when three older men in cowboy outfits took the stage one night.

These men were The Masqueraders. They have been a group for over 50 years, but this did not stop them from performing for a crowd of millions in 2018. As one of them told the judges, they "never stop dreaming."

They performed a rendition of Sam Cooke's "A Change is Gonna Come." This was perhaps even more unexpected than their appearance. The song came out in 1964, and despite its place in the Grammy Hall of Fame, it would have been much safer for them to sing something the audience would be familiar with.

The bittersweet side to this tale is that the Masqueraders never made it very big themselves. They had a hit in 1968 titled "I Ain't Got to Love Nobody Else," but their renown did not survive the tenuous social climate of the Civil Rights era. Perhaps they will finally make it big after their home-run of a performance.

They harmonized beautifully from the first words, captivating the entire audience and especially Simon. He began making hand motions like a conductor, and eventually lost control of his gesticulations, channeling the music through his body.

Tyra Banks was overflowing with joy, and the rest of the judges were thoroughly impressed. The Masqueraders earned a much-deserved standing ovation from the crowd that night.
