Multiplication can be a difficult thing to learn. Here is a cool trick to try. It's great for those that struggle with learning multiplication and for those that just want to learn something new.

This trick will only work for multiplication of numbers 6-9. The only answer it won't give you is the answer to 6 x 6. Although it's not helpful for all the number you will multiply, 6-9 are usually the most challenging ones to find answers to.

Step 1

Line your fingers up and work your way from your pinky finger to your thumb.

Make the fingers match your math problem. In Example: if you're multiplying 7 x 8, line up the 7th finger on one hand with the 8th finger on the other hand. See the example above.

Step 2)

After your fingers are matched up, this is where it all starts.

Add the fingers that are together and all the ones below them. In the example, the answer would be 5 because there are five total. This is going to be the number that will be first in the total answer. This number will be placed in the 10's place, making the answer 50 something.

Step 3)

After you have the first number of your answer, it's time to find out the rest. Take your top fingers on your left hand and count those. Do the same on the right side. Here, you have 3 on the left side and 2 on the right side. You will multiply these two numbers together to get 6. This will be the second number of your final answer. This number will be placed into the 1's place.

Step 4)

Take the first number in the 10's place and place the second number to the 's place to the right and get your final answer of 56. How awesome is that?

Multiplying by 11

Here's another multiplication trick. This will let you find the answer to any number that's multiplied by 11.

Take the numbers that are being multiplied by 11 and add them together - place this number in between the original numbers. Example: 42 x 11, 4 + 2 = 6 (place this answer between 42) 462 = 42 x 11
