Her life hasn’t always been this good, however. Shortcake was originally found on the streets of Fresno, California.

At the time, she had mange and terrible skin that smelled like it was rotting. Shortcake also had a painful hernia. Still, this poor girl had a smile that welcomed her rescuers to help her.

A local shelter found Shortcake and took her to their place for safekeeping. She was then rescued from the first shelter and placed in Fresno Bully Rescue, where she found a new foster home.

During her stays at these shelters, Shortcake’s hernia and mange were taken care of, and she became a healthy, happy girl.

Shortcake now has other dogs to play with and loves to play until she’s tired, and then have a nice nap. She just can’t stop smiling with pleasure at her new life.

Her new doggie mama, Amy, says that Shortcake even smiles when she sleeps. She also makes fun sounds that have endeared her to her new family.

Shortcake is now four years old. The happy dog has made lots of friends, both the human and the dog kind, and has over 130,000 followers on Instagram. Her Instagram page reminds us all about how sweet a rescue dog can be. Shortcake’s mom, Amy, hopes to get another dog so there’s a permanent playmate for around for Shortcake to enjoy.
