This Mother Made Her Children Apply For "Jobs" At Home When They Asked For More Allowance

Shaketha McGregor is one smart mom.

The 30-year-old mother of three became so tired of her kids continually asking for money and new phones that she designed a job fair for them to learn a lesson about the value of a dollar. The in-house job fair truly had it all, mimicking an actual professional job fair.

McGregor started the fair off with a formal posting of the available positions. The open job positions included a kitchen manager, lead housekeeper, and laundry supervisor. Each job listing even had an official description so that the kids knew exactly what each position entailed. For example, the kitchen manager job listing indicated that the person would be responsible for making sure that the kitchen stayed clean at all times.

The next step at the job fair was to fill out an official application. This thorough application included questions such as weekend availability and desired salary. This mom had thought of it all.

The last form was a credit application, allowing the kids to tap into mom's money to build their allowance.

McGregor said that she wants to instill a strong work ethic in her children and encourage them to be proud of their job no matter how menial it is.
