This Man Always Made Fun Of Tiny Dogs — Until He Met One

Bobby Humphreys spends his time bodybuilding in Boonsboro. This small-town Maryland guy always claimed to be a fan of bigger dogs. That's just the kind of guy he was. Professionally, he worked laying floors. So, he fits every masculine stereotype that you could think of. He even poked fun at people who were walking their tiny dogs. Sounds pretty typical, right? However, life never ceases to surprise us.

Bobby and his wife had given a home to many Rottweilers over the years. He liked their tough and intimidating figures. Bobby knows how guys work. They're always measuring. Status is often attributed to who has the most gorgeous girl, who can lift the heaviest weights, who has the largest dog, and who is the most successful. Everyone knows what truly lies underneath these status symbols. Many men suffer from deep insecurity. They're just too afraid to show it.

Bobby always claimed to be a big dog kind of guy. He says that owning a tiny dog never even entered his mind. That's when life slapped him in the face. It was New Year's Eve 2016 when his wife left him. His heart was broken. A week later, his body let him down as well. He injured his shoulder when he was at the gym. Doctors told him he needed surgery to get it fixed. He began experiencing a terrible bout of depression. He couldn't use his arm, and the love of his life had walked out on him.

It seemed like nothing could bring him out of his funk. Bobby began binge drinking to keep the pain at bay. He was self-medicating. Deep down, Bobby was a sensitive soul. He was hurting so badly. Finally, his arm began to heal. He was able to return to work. Still, the depression hung on. That's when he received a call from Constance. She was a friend who had been kicked out of her home. She was trying to find a new one but needed someone to watch her dog named Lady. So, she asked Bobby.

At first, Bobby was hesitant. Lady had a strange attitude and he wanted little to do with the Chihuahua. He kept her in the kennel for a little bit. Until he saw that she was peeking out from the cage at him. He felt a jolt of guilt run through him. He let her out. He decided that she deserved to run around at least. That's when Lady surprised him. She jumped up into his lap. His friend Connie was shocked when she came to see how Lady was doing and found her cuddling with him.

Lady spent a few more months with Bobby. They were inseparable. She was keeping his depression at bay. As a result, he started working more. She gave him a reason to keep on living. Of course, Lady had her own home to go back to. So, Bobby adopted Kira. Then he took in two more Chihuahuas. Suddenly, he had a house full! He couldn't say no. Bobby realized that Chihuahuas were being mistreated constantly. So, he decided to create a sanctuary called Big Guy Littles World.

So far, he's saved around 40 Chihuahuas. His entire world revolves around them. After all, they saved him. Now, he's repaying the favor.
