This Layered Flag Cake Is Probably The Most Patriotic Treat We've Ever Seen

The fourth of July is just a day away, so by now, you’re probably looking for the perfect dessert for the festivities. We’ve got you covered - this layered cake originally shared by All Recipes is probably as patriotic as a cake can get and believe it or not, much easier to make than you think!
The best part about this recipe is that you don’t even have to make the batter from scratch. All you’ll need is three boxes of store-bought white cake mix, a stencil, some food coloring, white frosting, and white chocolate chips - it’s that simple!
To start off, you’ll have to complete the cake batters as according to the recipe on the box. Once they’re done, divide the batter into two halves. The first half will get red food coloring mixed into it. The second half will be halved once more, creating two smaller batches of batter.
One of these batters will be colored with blue food coloring, and the remaining will stay as-is. White chocolate chips then get folded into the blue cake batter, so as to create the ‘stars’.

Next, the cakes are baked according to the instructions. Once they are baked and completely cooled, it’s time to assemble the layers. The red and white cakes both get carefully cut, so as you have 3 red layers and 2 white layers.
2 layers of red and 1 of the white are the first ones to be stacked, with a thin layer of white frosting spread on each one to keep them together.
Next, the blue cake gets a 4-inch circle cut out from the middle using a stencil. To create the remaining layers, four-inch circles are cut out of the remaining red and white cakes and placed into the hole created in the blue layer. Don’t forget to add frosting between each layer!
Once all the layers are assembled correctly, all you have to do is frost the cake and decorate with crumbled cake and sugar crystals so as to create a flag on the top.
