This Is What Being Faithful Really Is (Hint: It’s More Than Not Cheating)
Feb 07, 2019 by apost team
There seems to be a common misconception about what being faithful is. It's time to set the record straight. Being faithful means so much more than just restraining from physical cheating. Faithfulness is in the heart. Yes, I know what you are thinking. "But I only kiss, hug, hold hands and have sex with one person!" This is only one part of what it means to be faithful to your significant other.

Being faithful is about cutting off your "options" because you only want to be with that one person. You aren't single anymore. Those numbers lurking in your phone can only lead to trouble. Even if you don't reach out, being faithful means blatantly letting them know you are taken if they text you.
Being faithful means that your significant other can fully trust you to go out with your friends without them. They know you aren't going to allow anyone to make any advances on you or vice versa. They know that no matter how much your buddies taunt and tease, you aren't going to dance with that girl who keeps checking you out.

Being faithful means being with one person sexually. It means turning a blind eye to lustful temptations and committing yourself to your person. If you look at everyone else the same way you look at your significant other, you are just grouping them with everyone else. This is not how you make your significant other feel special.
Being faithful means going the extra mile to avoid temptations even when your significant other isn't around. This doesn't mean you have to blindfold yourself, but you certainly shouldn't be salivating over everything that comes into view. This is extremely disrespectful to your partner.

Being faithful means not seeking out dirty pictures to comment on and like. It means not having physical or internet affairs. It means being able to let your partner use your phone without you having a heart attack.
It's fine to have friends of both genders, but there should always be a line. Your partner will be able to tell when that line has been crossed. They know you. They can tell when something is off. If your loyalty doesn't match theirs, it is going to show.

Do you want your partner to feel alone and insecure? That's exactly how they feel when you get a little too flirtatious with your co-worker. That's how they feel when you spend more time liking booty pictures on Instagram than you spend curled up in their arms. Being faithful means sacrificing instant gratification for long-term fulfillment.
One day, they will get sick of the lies, the deceit, the secret phone calls and texts, the office affairs, the online chat rooms, and the lewd search history. One day, they will simply leave because they just can't take it anymore. Being faithful means ensuring that none of those things ever happen because you just can't imagine life without that person.
