Footloose is widely revered as one of the most amazing dancing movies of our generation. The process of beating adversity in order to give the city back their right to dance is a genius concept that was excellently portrayed in the film. To continue on the legacy of this iconic movie, one YouTube user took the time to mashup all of the most legendary dancing scenes from all of the top movies in the industry, and play them alongside “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins.

The scenes selected weren’t originally set along to this song, but it’s extremely enjoyable to see these scenes we know and love reimagined in this way!

Many people aren’t aware that the story behind Footloose is actually based on real events!

Elmore City, Oklahoma and the people who lived there thought of themselves as traditional with extremely strict morals. The slogan of Elmore City is actually “If the South is the Bible belt, then we are the buckle.” For this reason, dancing was absolutely prohibited in the area until a number of high school students began to protest this restriction because of how outdated it felt to them.

With their upcoming school prom, they wanted to be able to dance the night away without breaking any rules! Kevin Bacon’s classic character in Footloose is actually based off of two actual students from the school, named Rex Kennedy and Leonard Coffee. These two students were responsible for protesting the law against officials of the city and school administration until dancing became acceptable again!
