This American actor was the epitome of the 2000s heartthrob. With his piercing blue eyes, boyish charm, and effortless charisma that made him the perfect leading man, the star captivated audiences from the moment he stepped onto the screen. His breakout role in 2004’s “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement” alongside Anne Hathaway solidified his status as a Hollywood dreamboat.
As the mid-2000s rolled on, he cemented his heartthrob status with romantic comedies and action-packed roles showcasing his versatility. He starred in “Just My Luck” alongside Lindsay Lohan, proving he could hold his own in the romantic comedy genre. His easygoing, roguish charm cemented his status as a leading man who could make audiences swoon and fall in love. The actor has since created a name for himself in Hollywood with movies such as the reboot of the “Star Trek” film series and “Wonder Woman.”
Although he is now a recognizable face in Hollywood, the actor describes his career as accidental as it started off with him casually doing plays and not expecting it to turn into stardom and a career as an A-list actor.
“I don’t even feel like I picked it,” he said in an interview.
“I just started doing plays in college. And then I went to LA. Then I got an agent. It just sort of rolled like a very slow snowball into what I’m doing now. It’s very weird.”

The star is none other than Chris Pine, who, despite his immense fame, shocked fans when he stepped out in Los Angeles looking almost unrecognizable and shaggy. The 44-year-old ditched his preppy, clean-cut look for a bushy beard and long hair. He wore a white vest, gold necklace, black shorts and a pair of slippers as he ran errands. The transformation had many fans questioning whether it was him and, if so, whether his scruffy look was for an upcoming film. Pine offered an explanation for his new look, saying:
“I guess it’s like, equal parts laziness and equal parts something I may do in the future here," Pine said of his beard and long hair. “If there’s any excuse not to shave and have makeup put on, I, you know.”
However, this wasn’t the first time Pine debuted a dramatic physical change. After shaving his hair, he stepped out with a buzz cut a few years ago. He clarified:
“Yes, I did it myself, I used clippers.”
The bearded Pine divided fans online, with some saying he looked “insanely gorgeous” as others said it was “not a great look.”
“Looks like he could fit in with the homeless people on the streets there. I guess times are tough for everyone,” one comment read, while another user wrote, “Very good looking guy but not with the facial hair.”
“I'm impressed anyone recognized him. He looks raggedy,” a user remarked.
On the opposite end, fans of the look said he was “Attractive Either WAY” and that “Yeah, he's still a hottie!”
The actor has managed to remain a heartthrob throughout different stages of his life and career, perhaps because he is comfortable with changing his appearance.
“I went through phases. So I had long hair and a beard. And first I did a facial hair thing. That was fun. I did the mustache. I did a little General Sherman,” Pine said. “Then I did a full-shaved back (of the head). That was fun for a day.”
Being so handsome, Pine can pull off every look, and it’s refreshing to see some of his versatility as an actor extends to his comfort in switching up his looks.
