So many parents take their children for granted. We have all read, and are horrified, about the thousands of abuse and neglect cases all around the world. It’s a sad, sad world that we live in, and sometimes it is hard to see whether there will be an end to it.

However, there are stories that are just wonderful to hear and make our days a little bit brighter. This is one of them.

Dana Griffin Graves and her husband had been trying unsuccessfully for years to get pregnant. Time and time again they were disappointed to see that they were not. When Dana finally became pregnant in 2015, she was absolutely ecstatic-for very good reason! Who wouldn’t be after trying so hard for all of those years?

She wanted to surprise her husband and chose a really cute way to do so. We all know the meaning of “bun in the oven” when it comes to being pregnant. Dana did just that- she placed a package of buns in her own oven.

To get her husband, Arkell, to see her surprise, she asked him if he could get something out of the oven for her. Along with the buns she had set a picture of the baby’s ultrasound for him to see.

He was shocked to see the surprise she had left for him and exclaimed, “You’re pregnant!” You can tell from the heartwarming video just how happy he is as he is almost speechless with joy. We are so lucky to have this adorable video, which was posted on social media with the tag “buns in the oven.”

However, there were some complications in the beginning. Dana ended up admitted to the intensive care unit when her blood pressure became very high.

However, it all worked out in the end. She delivered her baby via C-section, naming him Kaleb when he came out.

The doctors needed to take care of Kaleb in the neonatal intensive care unit for some time after his birth. That was okay with the parents, as their only concern was for their precious miracle.

Kaleb spent about 143 days in the hospital before he was able to come home. He dealt with a lot of trauma during that time, as he had a chronic lung disease and had to have heart surgery. He also had to have fluid drained out of his brain.

When Dana heard Kaleb cry for the very first time she said it was absolutely music to her ears. Her “miracle boy,” as she calls him, had suffered through so many things in his short life and came out on top. Luckily, he is still going strong.

In 2017, Kaleb’s parents were wondering how to celebrate his second birthday, as they weren’t even sure he would make it. But make it he did! They decided that the best thing to do is focus on all of the positives and think only of the future.
