Thief Attempts To Steal A Woman’s Bike, But Then A Cowboy Pulls Up On A Horse Like Out Of A Movie

In 2016, a scene that truly appeared like it was taken right out of a Western occurred in a Walmart parking lot in Eagle Point, Oregon, 275 miles south of Portland. Robert Borba, a 28-year-old cowboy needed to pick up some dog food and headed to Walmart to get some just like many others in the community. However, his mode of transport was different. He rode his horse there. And, wow, did it sure come in handy when he helped out a woman whose bike was nearly stolen!

After Borba picked up the dog food and was exiting the Walmart, he heard a desperate woman scream, "Stop him! Stop him! He stole my bike!" The next thing he knew, Victorino Arrellano-Sanchez sped past him on the woman's bicycle. That's when his cowboying instincts took over. He hopped on his horse and galloped after the stunned criminal before lassoing him as he had done to so many steer.

The hero cowboy then called 911, and a hilarious exchange followed. "911. What's the address of the emergency?" "We got a guy who just stole a bike here at Walmart. I got him roped and tied to a tree." After a few beats, the incredulous 911 operator exclaimed, "What?" according to CBS.

A few minutes later, the police, also stunned by the scene, arrived and took care of the situation from there. When they were finished, they returned the rope to Borba, and he made his way out to the ranch that he works at with his dog food, now a national hero.

It's the kind of story that if you happened to see while at Walmart that day and told your friends about it later, there is no way they would believe you! That's what makes it so great.

And while Borba became a national hero that day, the dust didn't settle on him so quickly. A few months after the incredible incident, he and his wife were invited to go on Steve Harvey's talk show. It was their first trip to Chicago and it was memorable for a few reasons. He recounted to NBC how he was given an amateur lesson in big city swindle from a shoeshine worker. Borba told the station:

"One fella was shining my boots, he goes I’ll charge ya 10 bucks a boot double or nothing if I can guess how many letters are in your last name. He said 12 and I said ‘no you’re wrong’ and he said ‘no I’m right and I’ll tell you why, I said how many letters are in your last name’ and he spelled our your last name and I went dang so I had to give him his money.”

When asked what was up next for the heroic cowboy, Borba explained he was focusing on the simpler things in life, telling NBC:

“I guess just keep working, that’s about it, I don’t know. If I see somebody stealing a bicycle and I got a horse handy I might run them down but other than that keep on going doing what I do.”

Spoken like a truly humble hero!
