Jul 31, 2018 by apost team

They are called Gus and Laurie and like two peas in a pod. If they could speak, they would probably finish each other's sentences. Their cuteness and story have gone viral. The precious pups are up for adoption with a few stipulations.

The Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue began their tale and "tail" on Facebook recently, posting that the lovely dogs were up for adoption and transferred to a foster volunteer in Virginia. German Shepherds are known for their keen intellect, ability to learn fast and their loyalty and beautiful emotions, and that is partly why these canines are often chosen for special work with law enforcement and the military.

Gus and Laurie were found huddled together when they were a mere 3 months old, having taken shelter in someone's barn. Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue in Stephens City, Virginia, took them in at 7 months old and could see the incredible bond they possessed for each other.

The rescue organization posted the pups' adorable photos on Facebook to offer them up for a twin adoption, and the world took notice. The internet responded, sending their story viral. The photos of Gus and Laurie were passed around Facebook more than 16,000 times. Everyone had fallen in love with the German Shepherds.

The images of a protective Gus over a shy Laurie will melt anyone's heart.

These gorgeous animals are loving, kind and deserved an amazing home - and the best part of this story is that they got it! They were adopted together and will never have to be separated again.

Not all dogs, however, are so fortunate. Remember to always adopt, never shop! There are so many adorable pups like Gus and Laurie that are desperate for forever homes.

The Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue does incredible work, saving more than 350 dogs so far.

This feel-good story needs to expand around the world even further, so don't hesitate to let others witness this heart-melting moment.
