These Identical Twins Have Been Named Valedictorian And Salutatorian Of Their High School

A little friendly competition couldn't possibly get friendlier than this. Identical twin brothers Deontae and Deontrae Wright finished high school with the highest and the second-highest GPA, respectively. They credit their achievement to a love of competing with each other.

The first-place spot is called valedictorian. Deontae claimed that spot with a 4.5 GPA. The second-place spot is called salutatorian. Deontrae claimed that spot with a 4.4 GPA.

Coincidentally, Deontae also came into this world first as he was the first-born of the two, but that's mere coincidence and in no way predicted this outcome. Their neck-and-neck competition was so close that they spent their entire senior year swapping places. Sometimes, one had the highest GPA. Sometimes, the other had it.

The brothers told WGTV that they owe their success to their love for competing with one another.

"We both like to compete against each other," Deontrae said. "We want to score higher than each other."

They have both been accepted to Ohio State University with declared majors in Electrical Engineering. They have big plans for the future. They are minoring in Business and hope to start their own engineering firm together someday. As if that's not impressive enough, they also both worked two jobs while finishing high school. On top of that, they have performed about 70 hours of community service as well.

Deontae feels it is important to give back. It not only makes him feel good about himself, he feels it helps him positively influence the community in which he lives.

They aren't the first set of twins to do something like this. The previous year, the co-valedictorians at Woodbridge High School in New Jersey were twin brothers with perfect SAT scores, Malik and Miles George. They were both tennis partners and were accepted to MIT.

Miles told abc 7 news

"Every course, studying, paying attention, asking questions. That's one of the most important things, being an active student in our own education. Because that's what the teachers are there for, you know?"
