These 11 Methods Can Help Repair Damaged Hair From Bleaching

Oct 31, 2018 by apost team

Many people use various types of bleach to strip the color from their hair. The product removes the color from hair strands by reducing the amount of melatonin.

While this might seem like a harmless process, it can damage your hair in many ways. Sometimes, your hair might not even look blonde like you wanted it to look. Instead, it could have an orange or light red appearance.

Fortunately, there are a few ways that you can repair some of the damage done to your hair by products that have bleach in them.

Keratin

A treatment using keratin is a simple process and among the first that many salons turn to if your hair is damaged. During the treatment, keratin is added back to the strands of your hair using a serum. You might have to get another treatment done if you wash your hair a lot during the week until the damage is corrected.

Sometimes, a stylist can use products and formulas to determine the severity of your hair damage. Once the condition of your hair is determined, the stylist can blend the proper ingredients together that will put life back into your hair.

Since this is a process that promotes healthy hair, it allows you to continue performing some of the treatments that you normally do on your hair.

Avocado

When you bleach your hair, it often makes it dry and brittle. You need to condition your hair, and avocado is something that you can use at home without going to a salon. Combine one avocado with one egg yolk to make a paste that you'll put on your hair. Leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing with warm water.

Mayonnaise

Since mayonnaise has high amounts of amino acids, it easily conditions your hair if you make a mask with the condiment. Use a small amount on your hair like you would with conditioner. A shower cap can be worn for about 15 minutes before rinsing. When your hair is dry, you'll notice that it's shinier and not as heavy.

Protect Before Adding Bleach

One way that you can protect your hair is by adding products before you add bleach. You'll want to wait for a few weeks or months before bleaching again if it's been bleached in the past so that your hair can heal.

A solution that is heat protective is usually added first with a conditioning treatment used after the bleach has been rinsed off.

Professional Shampoo

Your stylist will be able to recommend a professional shampoo that can keep your hair from drying out during the bleaching process. This shampoo is usually put on your hair after you've bleached so that it can be absorbed instead of being stripped away by the bleaching chemicals.

Butter

It might sound like it will be greasy, but massaging your hair with butter can make it shiny. Add a small amount of butter to your scalp, massaging it through your hair. Leave it on for about 30 minutes before rinsing with warm water. Make sure you shampoo your hair before rinsing to remove the butter.

Eggs And Shampoo

There is a lot of protein in eggs, making them a food that you can use on your hair to bring shine and life back to it after bleaching. Combine an egg with the shampoo that you're going to use for the day, massaging the mixture from your scalp down to the ends of your hair. You can use this treatment for a few weeks to see the biggest benefits from it or for only a few washes if you only need minimal support for your hair.

Bananas

Mash a banana to massage on your scalp and the rest of your hair. You can combine a banana with a small amount of honey and yogurt as well to get the maximum benefits of the fruit.

Coconut Oil

As with other foods, coconuts have a lot of oil in them. Combine coconut oil with almond and olive oil for a treatment that is similar to what you would get at a salon. The oil will help to prevent damage and hair loss associated with brushing while making your hair shiny.
