Therapy Dog Was Depressed Because He Had No One To Play With, Then He Found ‘Riff’ The Rescued Rat

Seeing two different species engage in an unconventional friendship always warms the heart. It's well-known that dogs are the best friends that anyone could ask for. They've had no issue with making friends out of dolphins and ducks, but have you ever seen one befriend a rat?

Osiris is a Dutch shepherd. He's only 3-years-old. He recently made friends with a 3-month-old rat named Riff. This rat was saved from uncertainty when he was only 4 weeks old!

His eyes were still sealed shut, so Riff's owners began feeding him with a syringe.

Some may not believe in an unlikely friendship like this one, but Riff and Osiris are showing them that anything is possible.

The pair has a lot in common. Osiris was a rescue as well. Some heartless soul abandoned him in a parking lot. He was only a puppy. Thankfully, he was rescued and now has a loving family to call home. At first, they decided to foster Osiris. However, he fit in so well that they knew they had to keep him permanently.

As a result, this rat and dog have developed a bond like no other. They make such cute friends.

These pet owners were concerned about how Osiris would treat Riff in the beginning. What would happen when they put a giant dog in the same room as a tiny rat?

Thankfully, Osiris is trained as a therapy dog. So, he's grown accustomed to taking care of all kinds of animals.

He's helped his parents foster a wide array of furry friends. Riff even feels safe enough to climb in his mouth! Apparently, he loves to lick the inside of the dog's mouth.

His owners think that Riff must be cleaning Osiris' teeth. How amazing is that?

Osiris must be the gentlest dog we've ever seen.

They love to play with each other too! The pair spends time exploring and cuddling with each other. At times, their size difference can be awkward, but that never changes how they feel about one another.
