One of the women’s co-stars was actually young Brad Pitt who can only be seen in about seven minutes of “Thelma & Louise”, yet the film gave him his big break.

Another famous actor also tried out for the role. Indeed, George Clooney auditioned five times to get the part but eventually Ridley Scott ended up picking Brad Pitt.

After the movie’s release, both actresses were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

But people also voiced criticism when “Thelma & Louise” came out in 1991. Geena Davis told W magazine some people thought it was too violent or critics didn’t like to see women with guns.

“I think that might be part of the problem that some people had with it, too—that we’re in charge of our own destiny, and we refuse to relinquish it,” she added. “And for some people, that’s infuriating”

About 29 years after the movie premiere, Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon got back together to attend the Museum of Modern Art's Women in Motion in New York City.

Both of them were dressed in black. Geena Davis wore a black lace gown while Susan Sarandon showed up in a sleek suit. Together the former co-stars smiled for the cameras, happy to be reunited.
