‘The Voice’ Season 22 Champion Bryce Leatherwood Sealed His Win With Bombastic Cover Of ‘T-R-O-U-B-L-E’

We’ve seen countless artists take over "The Voice" stage over the years, and most of them do not disappoint. Running for more than 10 years already on NBC, the reality singing competition continues to produce high-caliber talents and give opportunities to those who are still starting in the business.

On Sept. 19, 2022, the Season 22 of “The Voice” premiered, featuring a new roster of coaches on their respective chairs. “Havana” singer Camila Cabello was the latest addition to the group after replacing Season 21’s Ariana Grande. Country music star Gwen Stefani also made a comeback this season, taking over Kelly Clarkson’s spot. Meanwhile, EGOT Award-winning singer John Legend is going strong for his seventh season on the show, along with “The Voice’s” most beloved coach, Blake Shelton

The four coaches’ banter is impeccable, especially with the addition of Cabello in the mix. While coaches come and go throughout the years, undiscovered talents and untapped potentials seem to be far from over.

In “The Voice,” the contestants per team have to go through a stringent process: After getting a coach to turn around for them during the Blind Auditions, they have to go head-to-head with one of their teammates at the Battle Rounds. If they emerge victorious, they will have to go through another battle again, with two more contestants in the Knockouts round. The final contestants per team then go on to the Live Playoffs, where public voting is finally allowed.

Season 22 has now come to a close. With the Live Finales, which took place on Dec. 12 and 13, 2022, “The Voice” Season 22 finally crowned its Champion – 22-year-old Bryce Leatherwood, who brought the house down with his hair-raising rendition of Travis Tritt’s “T-R-O-U-B-L-E.”

Week after week, Leatherwood has wowed the judges with his voice and stage charisma, not to mention his name already has the makings of a great country music superstar. The singer proved that he came to the competition to win it all the way.

Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Leatherwood had pretty much sealed the title of “The Voice” Champion as he sang his heart out on his first performance on the Live Finale – Keith Whitley's "Don't Close Your Eyes."

His performance of “Don’t Close Your Eyes” was so amazing, Keith Withley’s widow, Lorrie Morgan, threw her support for the contestant.

“Bryce did such a great job and I think he deserves to win for this performance alone! I’ll bet Keith is smiling down! Brought tears to my eyes!” she said in a Facebook post

But Leatherwood’s fate hung in the balance, pending how well he performed his final song. The 22-year-old singer had to go against two more members of his own team, Bodie and Brayden Lape, also from Team Blake. Meanwhile, Team Camilla had Morgan Myles, and Team Legend had Omar Jose Cardona putting them up into a good fight too.

However, everyone was completely blown away by Leatherwood’s finale performance – a bombastic rendition of Tritt’sT-R-O-U-B-L-E.” Leatherwood brought the house down with his incredible cover of the boogie-woogie anthem, coupled with his through-the-roof energy. Not only did Leatherwood channel some of Tritt’s vocals, but he commanded the stage as if he was the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, who originally performed the song in 1975.

In the end, Leatherwood emerged as the Champion of “The Voice” Season 22, giving Team Blake its ninth championship title.
