The Voice Judges Immediately Lost Their Minds When They Heard This Woman's Take On The Bee Gees Classic (And We Did Too)

When she was 11, The Voice aired on NBC. To her it seemed like any other singing competition show. Now in its fifteenth season it's one of the most popular shows on market. Not only that, but she's one of its contestants.

Makenzie Thomas grew up on shows like The Voice and American Idol, so when she auditioned for the former, it was a dream come true.

Unlike other shows of its type, The Voice has coaches rather than judges. Even if someone doesn't make the cut, it's not a done deal, and they're given advice on how to improve their craft, as was the case with Makenzie.

She took her advice to heart and practiced, working with a gospel band and on her stage fright. When she returned (on Jennifer Hudson's team, coached by Hudson and the legendary Mariah Carey), she practiced her number.

That number was a dress rehearsal for the popular Bee Gees song "How Deep Is Your Love," and it was a performance that moved Mariah to tears.

In a recent episode, Makenzie -- boasting a newfound confidence and a tight focus on her lilting vocals -- took on the song, which is known to be difficult for singers due to its range and the transitions that are hard to nail.

Makenzie managed to pull it off. Afterwards Jennifer praised her on her hard work and her skills. After all it takes skill to match the vocal range that the Bee Gees are known for, and Makenzie knocked it out of the park.

One judge, former American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, also loved it but had a moment during the performance as if she was losing it. Afterward, she explained what was going on to Makenzie and the audience.

As it turned out, she was having a leg cramp. During Makenzie's riff when Kelly had her moment, it "went to Lord, said hello, came back down, game me a leg cramp." In other words, she loved Makenzie's performance.

It's still up in the air if Makenzie will be the season's winner, but with this performance she has a good shot at it.
