Welsh singer Tom Jones is widely known the world over, but it's his hit single It's Not Unusual that is perhaps even more famous. Currently, a coach on The Voice UK, the singer was egged on by fellow coaches Meghan Trainor, Olly Murs, and will.i.am to give the audience an impromptu rendition of the song in 2020.

The segment on the popular singing competition show begins when Olly Murs asks Tom when his career started. Tom explains he recorded It's Not Unusual at the end of 1964 when he was only 24 years old, and that it went to number one in the UK charts, prompting the audience to erupt in cheers.

He then offers up further information, including that he knew the song would be a hit and that it was originally intended for another singer, Sandie Shaw. However, after hearing Tom's demo recording, Shaw insisted the song belonged to him and that he should release it.

In an attempt to get Tom to sing, Olly Murs jokes that he hasn't heard the song in a long time, before Meghan Trainor also joins in, exclaiming "Sing it!" Thankfully, Tom doesn't need much convincing and before long, he's holding a microphone and performing for the audience like a true professional.

His performance proves that even at 79-years-old, Tom still has the vocal talents that made him a star in the first place. His fellow coaches appeared to be enjoying the impromptu serenade, while the audience went wild and was up dancing and singing along in the team.

Born Thomas John Woodward, the singer has gone by Tom Jones for his entire career, and after being knighted in 2006, is now Sir Tom Jones, according to his website. With a talent for merging various musical genres including soul, R'n'B, pop, and even country, the singer's impressive voice, described by All Music as a "full-throated, robust baritone," is a very memorable one. The best part of Tom's performance on The Voice? That his music is now reaching a younger generation of fans.
