Few wedding dresses may ever have the viral power of the Kate Middleton wedding dress buzz, but we have one here that took a gigantic bite outta that buzz factor. It’s had brides everywhere clamoring, and then they found out that you still can’t necessarily have your cake and eat it, too.

A WeddIng Dress Like None Other... Even If It Does Have A Knockoff Label

Choice of groom excluded, almost every bride has two things on the top of their want list - the perfect cake and the perfect dress. Now, we all know that the ‘perfect’ part is in the eye of the beholder. A gown that’s bedazzled and cut to leave little to the image may be one ideal, and it may be a traditional long sleeve and sleek satin for someone else’s perfect.

The good news is that wedding gown possibilities are almost endless. There’s something perfect for nearly everyone, and most brides go through all the options before settling on their perfect one. Here we have a dress never seen before and never worn by anyone. And, it has thousands of bride-to-be fashionistas salivating on their computer keys for a piece of it.

It’s without a doubt gorgeous, but, in this case, the drool may be as literal as metaphorical. You see, this wedding dress wasn’t created by a fashion designer. Well, at least not this particular version of it. While the dress does have a fake Mak Tumang label, and it is an almost perfect replica of his stunning "Angela" gown, the knock off itself remains a one-of-a-kind. How? Let’s just say it was cooked up extra special.

In most cases, fashion designers would probably be highly ticked off at having their designs ripped off and sold with their own label included, and that’s not to mention that the replica is arguably more famous than its muse.

In this case, however, imitation is indeed faltering it seems, especially when the imitators version is perishable. In fact, it’s uniqueness is why there’s a picture of Mak Tumang and Emma Jayne, the designer of this delectable gown, posing with it at its debut.

Meet Emma Jayne

Emma Jayne, of Emma Jayne Cake Design, is cake designer, not fashion designer. She created the knock-off “Angela” gown when she decided to combine the best of both bride must-haves - a dress and cake - to create the first life-sized wedding cake dress. The result has been an internet sensation of high couture fashion meeting high sensibility food palates.

The wedding cake dress was created for London’s Cake International, which is basically an edible art trade show for the most talented bakers to show off their sweet creations. Jayne was asked to pick a wedding dress and design a cake around it. After seeing the “Angela” gown by Filipino designer Mak Tumang, Jayne knew she’d found her pick to create a life-sized cake version. It took her 10 days in her own home to create the finished product.

From the muted bluish-grey main color, the soft pink 3-D appliqué petals, and the opal and Perciosa crystal beading, Jayne got the details down perfectly to create an almost identical replica of Tumang’s Angela dress.

Hold Your Cake Plates

Before you get your mouths and bodices all set on special ordering your own wedding cake dress, know that you may not be able to have your cake and wear it, too, or at least not in a very practical way. It’s not exactly wearer-friendly.

Jayne’s cake dress is six feet tall, has over 100 pounds of modeling paste flowers, 132 pounds of fondant, and a lot of other materials’ weight to consider. It took six people to remove it from her home to arrive at the trade show. So, you’d basically need to be an Amazon bride to get into it and hold it up for wear. There’s also the consideration that any frosting cake isn’t going to last long next to human body heat, meaning your ‘dress change’ may come sooner than expected and be the old birthday suit - cake not included.

While clearly not exactly practical for a real wedding, that hasn’t stopped people from being mesmerized and tempted by the sweet uniqueness of the wedding cake dress.

What do you think - are you a fan of the wedding cake dress? Are you already plotting ways to make this dress more wearable? Or, maybe, you’re still stuck thinking about popping one of those gorgeous flowers off in your mouth? In any case, leave us a comment telling us what you think about the first life-size wedding cake dress and let others know as well!
