We all have strong women in our life... but the ones who seem so strong might actually feel broken inside.

Her exterior might look full of passion and strength, unfazed by the world around her. She’s self-assured, a quality that is lacking in many other women. She knows what she wants, and she’s willing to fight for what she deserves. She handles life’s hardships with ease and shows no struggle when she takes on these setbacks. She’s been through seemingly everything life has to offer. Her heart has been broken and she’s had to remove herself from many toxic relationships.

She’s had to remove herself from situations with men who only wanted to use her. She’s burned bridges with men who did nothing but disappoint her. Don’t get us wrong, she’s made many mistakes, but always learned from them and worked through failure. And still, she’s thriving. She moves forward with life as if nothing bad has ever happened. She holds herself upright with poise and elegance so perfectly that you would never expect her soul to be so internally wounded by the things she’s endured.

This is the girl you always go to first whenever you need help with something. She’s so amazing at making others smile about their own personal struggles and giving them hope. She provides emotional strength and comfort whenever she’s around, spreading inspiration to those who surround her. It might seem like she’s full of love and has a positive, empathetic spirit. She radiates nothing but positivity and it feels like you want to surround yourself with her at all times. With the grace she carries herself with, you’d never know that she is actually struggling with her own issues.

But you aren’t able to see the broken feelings and sad emotions she carries. You aren’t aware how much pain has been building up over the years or the struggles she’s working on overcoming. You don’t see the broken girl that’s holding herself together, trying to put back the pieces. And it’s not your fault that you can’t see it, she hides it from everyone. But secretly, it’s eating at her. People who surround her imagine that her life is perfect and content and that she doesn’t have any problems to worry about.

It seems like she knows the solution for anything life will throw at her. She has inner-strength to permeate through any hardship, and proves this through the accomplishments she’s made over her life. But what you can’t see is that all of these good qualities are just the parts that she chooses to show you. She’s a multi-layered individual, and not every one of those pieces is perfect. It looks like she has a strong heart and unfailing ambition, but this is just what she chooses to display to the world.

She looks like she can’t be broken by anything, but it’s only because she has been broken on multiple occasions. The little-known secret to becoming this strong is also being broken down inside. Not everyone has had to deal with the struggles that she’s gone through, and that’s what makes her so strong. She’s endured true pain and has bounced back from it. She’s felt grieving and loss and remained herself through it all. When you see her, she’ll have a happy smile on her face.

She’ll only show you the inner parts of her that are positive and happy. You’ll see someone who symbolizes all things hope, optimism, and power. You’ll see someone who is a positive influence to look up to and someone who allows you to follow in their steps. But when it all comes down to it, she’s only strong because she’s been truly weak in her past. She knows what it’s like to reach rock bottom, but she has always worked her way back to the top. This woman’s strength comes from her ability to never stop trying.
