The Real Meaning Of Meghan Markle's Baby Boy's Name

After months of speculation and even betting on possibilities, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have finally released the name of their new baby.

On Wednesday, it was announced that the newest member of the royal family is named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The infant was born on Monday, May 6, weighing in at seven pounds and three ounces.

So what is the story behind the name?

Archie is simply a favorite of both Harry and Meghan. The name has gained popularity in recent years on many British naming charts. And the name is sure to be even more popular now! Archie means "bright" and "bold," making it a perfect choice for a new baby boy.

Harrison literally translates to "Harry's son," paying homage to father Prince Harry. Mountbatten is the surname of the baby's great-grandfather, Prince Phillip. Windsor acknowledges the famed royal house of Windsor. His parents are officially known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Baby Archie was introduced on Wednesday to his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, at Windsor Castle. Also in attendance were the Duke of Edinburgh and Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland.
