The British Royal Family received a delegation from the United States this week including president Donald Trump and his family. The three-day visit included cultural visits and a speech with Prime Minister Theresa May, the Guardian reports. But the most closely watched event was the state banquet at Buckingham Palace with several dignitaries in attendance.

The attire of the women of the hour was praised: Melania Trump, Camila Parker-Bowles, and Kate Middleton were all stunning in white. Kate looked especially beautiful in one of Diana’s favorite tiaras. The Queen herself also wore a white gown and topped off the classic outfit in a regal tiara made of rubies and diamonds.

The tiara’s jeweler, the House of Garrard, has very close associations with the Royal Family and elaborated on the details of their tiara in a press release. They described the Burmese Ruby and Diamond Tiara, which was commissioned by the Queen in 1973 to include rubies gifted by Burma on the occasion of her wedding.

The release reads, “The 96 rubies are a symbolic gesture, as rubies in Burmese culture protect from illness and evil, in this case to protect the wearer from the 96 diseases that can afflict humans.” It goes on to describe the rose motif the gorgeous tiara has, reflecting the Tudor Rose symbol of Britain.

The Queen nobly wore the tiara throughout the banquet including the speech and toast she gave to president Trump in which she said, “I am so glad that we have another opportunity to demonstrate the immense importance that both our countries attach to our relationship,” as per the Royal Family website.
