The Queen's Platinum Party Set To Take Place On Baby Lilibet's Birthday

Queen Elizabeth will be celebrating her 70-year reign the first week of June 2022, although the true anniversary is on February 6. The Platinum Jubilee is to take place over a four-day bank holiday and citizens are encouraged to partake in several celebratory events.

One of the more notable parties, called the Platinum Party, will be on June 4, 2022, which also happens to be Lilibet's first birthday. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's daughter was born in Santa Monica, California and the first photo of her was shared on the family's 2021 holiday card.

The Queen is the country's longest-reigning monarch, making the Platinum Jubilee the first-ever in history. The palace has chosen to celebrate in June rather than February in the hope of better weather. The four-day bank holiday will begin Thursday, June 2, 2022. The Trooping of Colour is planned for that day and it is also the day the Platinum Jubilee beacons will be lit across the UK.

On Friday the 3rd of June, there will be a Service of Thanksgiving for the Queen's reign held at St Paul's Cathedral. Earlier in the day on Saturday, the Queen will attend the Derby at Epsom Downs and that evening is when the Platinum Party will take place at Buckingham Palace. The event is being put on by both the palace and the BBC.

June 4 also marks the first birthday of Prince Harry and Meghan's daughter Lilibet. It remains to be seen if they will be in attendance for the Jubilee celebrations. Read on to learn more about the Sussex family and the Platinum Party.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shared the first public photo of Lilibet during the 2021 holiday season. The precious baby is seen in her mother's arms as Archie is sitting in Prince Harry's lap in the photo for their holiday card. Everyone has a smile on their faces and the picture exudes a joyous energy. The card read:

"This year, 2021, we welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, to the world. Archie made us a 'Mama' and a 'Papa', and Lili made us a family. As we look forward to 2022, we have made donations on your behalf to several organizations that honor and protect families — from those being relocated from Afghanistan, to American families in need of paid parental leave."

The beautiful family photo was taken by photographer Alexi Lubomirski. He wrote in an Instagram post

"This is one of those rare and special projects that one is fortunate enough to be a part of. To be able to continue the story of this family whom I first photographed as an engaged couple, then on the day of their wedding, as a married couple and now seeing their love manifest into two beautiful children, has been a delightful honour."

Lubomirski added

"Anyone who has seen my #AllLoveSeries, will know that one of the greatest joys I receive from photography, is when I am able to photograph 'love' in some form or another. To be trusted by your subjects enough, to open themselves up and have their connection documented and translated into an image, is one of the greatest gifts a photographer can have. This day with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was one such joyous experience, and one that I feel extremely privileged to have been invited to capture."

Also in 2021, the Sussex family celebrated Lilibet's first Halloween and her costume sounds like one the cutest ideas ever. "She was a little skunk. Like Flower from 'Bamb,'" The Duchess shared with Ellen DeGeneres.

The mom of two added that both of the kids didn't seem as interested in dressing up as the adults were. "Archie was a dinosaur for like five minutes," she said of the boy's costume. Then Ellen DeGeneres said: "Harry talked him into putting the head on." We are sure those five minutes were adorable!

June 4 will be a busy day for the royal family as the Platinum Party will be held on the same day as Lilibet's birthday. The party will feature a concert from top artists. The Royal Family shared:

"The BBC will stage and broadcast a special live concert from Buckingham Palace that will bring together some of the world's biggest entertainment stars to celebrate the most significant and joyous moments from The Queen's seven decade reign. Members of the public will be invited to apply to attend this special event and details of the ballot for UK residents to secure audience tickets will be released in February."

During her Jubilee, the Queen will be 96-years-old. A BBC correspondent said, "There has been some slowing down for several years, but she is still very engaged. Certainly she and the Palace will be hoping this will be an opportunity for people across the United Kingdom to show their continued commitment to, and regard and affection for, this particular monarch."
