Because of a global pandemic, there were no festivities surrounding the Queen's 94th birthday this year. She issued a heartfelt letter on Tuesday offering condolences from herself and Prince Philip for the recent shooting in Nova Scotia, Canada instead.

Queen Elizabeth II's birthday was done differently this year because of the global pandemic. Instead of the usual grand festivities, the Queen is currently isolating at Windsor Castle with Prince Philip and has requested that there be no gun salutes or cannon ceremonies to mark her 94th.

On Tuesday, the Royal Family’s official social media pages posted a statement from the Queen and her husband Prince Philip, who officially retired from royal duties in 2017, sending out their condolences to the Governor General and Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, Canada regarding a mass shooting that killed 19 people over the weekend.

“Prince Philip and I have been deeply saddened by the appalling events in Nova Scotia, and we send our condolences to the friends, friends, and colleagues of those who have lost their lives,” the statement read.

The rampage was among the country’s worst mass killings in recent history.

Also on their twitter account, the Royal Family shared pictures of cupcakes made by The Royal Pastry Chefs for the Queen's birthday, which also included the recipe for it. 'E II R', which is seen decorated on some of the exquisite-looking pastries, stands for Elizabeth Regina (Queen Elizabeth in Latin), with the insert 'II' being the Roman numeral for '2'.

This pandemic has led to a lot of celebrations being canceled. Can you believe the Queen is already 94? Pass this along to your friends and family to see what they think.
