Being in shape and living a healthy lifestyle is sometimes easier said than done. It can be difficult to switch up old and comfortable habits, but with some hard work and determination, anything is possible. Ree Drummond, better known as the Pioneer Woman, recently shared her own health journey and what it took for her to look as incredible as she does today.

With her own television show featuring the tasty recipes she cooks up for her family and friends, it’s safe to say that food is a big part of Drummond’s life. The show depicts what daily life is like for her as a wife and mother on a ranch. Airing on the Food Network since August 2011, the show has reached a total of 15 seasons so far. At 52 years old, Drummond has accomplished a lot in her life, as she not only hosts “The Pioneer Woman,” but she is also known for being a food blogger, food writer, photographer and author. She has written a children’s book, an autobiography and, of course, plenty of amazing cookbooks.

Despite food being her job, Drummond wanted to switch up her personal eating habits. She took the jump at kickstarting her health journey in January 2021, and has since changed up the way she eats and exercises. After months of being mindful about what she eats and progressively working on enhancing her exercise abilities, Drummonds has been able to lose a remarkable amount of weight. The TV personality has lost a whopping 43 pounds in the span of four months, and has since shared the details about how she was able to do so.

Posting on The Pioneer Woman website, Drummond shared the secrets behind how she lost 43 pounds in four months. Drummond explained that as a self-proclaimed “lover of food and avoider of exercise,” she wrote the post to hopefully inspire others and to “feel better and have more energy.” After explaining that she did not follow any trendy diet or weight loss program, the Pioneer Woman revealed what helped her shed the pounds.

Drummond first explained that she ate fewer calories. On top of that, she also weighed her food with a digital food scale to be precise. “I still ate good food,” Drummond explained. “I just ate less of it, and I valued the calories more and made sure I ate things that offered more nutritional bang for the buck.” However, Drummond did cut back on sugar while instead upping her daily amount of protein.

Incorporating different ways to exercise was another key factor in Drummond’s incredible weight loss journey. She explained that she walked two to three miles, did the rowing machine, did Pilates, or simply just taking her dogs for a walk. Drummond said she exercised six days a week, either once or twice a day.

On top of that, she also focused on building muscle. The Pioneer Woman described her early efforts at weight lifting “pitiful,” but she persisted and learned how to build and tone properly. “It feels good (as someone who isn’t a spring chicken) to actually see and feel new muscles in my bod,” she explained. Lastly, Drummond said that she is still working on keeping up with her new lifestyle, and said, “Remember that feeling good, realistic goals, being healthy, and having fun is the way to go!”
